VIENNA, January 18th, 2013 - Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH, developer of the open-source virtualization platform Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE), announced today the new training catalog for 2013. Starting in February, the Austrian-based company offers a new set of training courses for their virtualization product Proxmox VE.  „Our training courses address system administrators who want to become a qualified virtualization professional or who are planning to move to our open-source virtualization platform“, says Martin Maurer, CEO of Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH.

Focus turns on employees with training in virtualization
As the global enterprise IT sector continues its shift toward virtualization, IT decision-makers have altered their hiring plans to focus more heavily on employees with training and experience in virtualization. “We have received numerous requests for Proxmox VE technical trainings from prospective students all over the world. To respond to this demand, we have opted for offering the courses” explains CEO Martin Maurer. „Users want to understand the concepts and philosophy behind Proxmox VE and they want to learn all about Kernel-based Virtual Machines (KVM) and container-virtualization with OpenVZ.“ Proxmox VE unifies these technologies in one single open-source platform.

Upward trend in server virtualization
The amount of companies looking to move to a virtualization solution will likely grow moving forward. Virtualization saves time and money, uses existing resources, reduces administration, and increases reliability. Well known products for virtualization are VMWare vSphere, Citrix Xen Server or Windows Hyper-V. However, more and more companies decide to move to a cheaper and more flexible open-source solution.

Open-source alternative in virtualization
One of these open-source alternatives is the virtualization platform Proxmox Virtual Environment at version 2.2. The software is based on a linux kernel and combines the two technologies Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) and OpenVZ containers. This offers a wide range of application. Small and medium businesses as well as big companies, educational institutions or hosting providers use the software worldwide. Main features of Proxmox VE 2.2 are high availability cluster, live snapshots, simple configuration via web GUI, live migration and live backup. Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH also offers commercial support subscriptions for business use.
